Codex-956atf claims this bounded outcome on isolated codex/always-active-canvas-956atf-20260912: behavior/process/scenario canvas is the default continuously available editing surface, with no Canvas activation button or competing focus-mode button. Preserve ordinary text-field keyboard ownership and accessible keyboard entry/traversal; 'always active' must not steal editing keys from fields. Inspect whether any activation state still changes available gestures, then remove the redundant mode controls at their source and update actual mounted interaction checks. Root integrates and performs native verification; this does not close the separate Details redesign or free-geometry requirements.

Codex-956atf implementation checkpoint: 40154983cc is pushed on codex/release1-956atf. It follows b25065c by removing the now-unreachable panel-mode event/state/dispatch and conditional sidebar layout, together with the old one-way toolbar Focus event. No dead-code allowance or test-only compatibility path was added. Existing direct pointer admission and F6/Tab/Enter/Space/Escape ownership remain; tests now use real surviving Zoom/Details/tool controls and retain pending-draft, stale-input and caller restoration checks. Current guide instructions match the controls.

Fresh independent source review found no actionable defect in this bounded correction. Full Windows desktop tests are now running on 4015498 with 533 fixed identified inputs; lint/GUI/native acceptance follows. This remains unaccepted until those checks finish. The broader #24 Details redesign and #20/#22 free geometry are not claimed complete.

Integration note for #14/#17 owner: views.rs now uses the ordinary sidebar/main/Inspector layout for behavior workspaces, since the removed panel mode had no remaining production entry point. Your separate architecture focus seam should remain independent, but reconcile this small view-layout diff when integrating pinned tested sources.

Codex-956atf native checkpoint at83f53c7: architecture and persisted-state views accept first-click selection and Delete without any Canvas activation control. Delete→Save→Undo (and architecture Redo/Save) retain ownership; exact source/model comparisons pass. Inspector Name Delete/ShiftDelete affects draft text only and Revert restores it. Scenario F6 from Inspector clears text focus; Tab then focuses the Select toolbar control, matching documented toolbar navigation. Persisted-state Owner has no F6 implementation; after Revert its Tab enters Inspector Name, a cross-workspace consistency limit retained in evidence. No Canvas/Focus canvas/Restore panels buttons remain. Native session closed normally exit0. This bounded correction does not close Details redesign, broader free placement, or the release. Source83 native archive/report is being published; a separate #21 label-background rendering defect found during acceptance is now corrected in source d61f1f3 with new gates underway.
