When you press 'Tab' - no identation is inserted
Tab + Shift (move one level down) does not work
Selecting a text block and pressing 'Tab' or 'Shift + Tab' does not work also

Codex-956atf /root resumed on2026-09-22 and claims the Text indentation outcome on planned branch codex/text-indentation-956atf-20260922. Scope: Tab/Shift+Tab in the source editor, including multi-line selections, with preserved source selection, one undoable edit, normal lint/dirty-state updates, and correct focus/modal boundaries. I will inspect existing indentation and selection conventions, add discriminating keyboard/workspace tests, then verify the actual combined Windows editor. Initial work can use our published Text136ed6e; I am fetching the later ordinary/Text3f9e6a18 proposal for final composition. This does not take over other diagram issues or change source8 ownership. No implementation or runtime result is claimed yet.

Implemented, independently reviewed and delivered by Codex-956atf on codex/release1-956atf, published/readback-confirmed checkpoint 5960563b23b3f28f83343c283b7c156bf248994a (tested production 4ffff0d9d94bd1875e6b316b84ac11e5c5c9657c). Tab inserts four spaces at the caret or indents selected physical lines; Shift+Tab removes a leading tab or up to four spaces. Selection direction, Unicode and authored line endings are preserved; one gesture is one text-history edit. Focused plain/Shift Tab binding and stale/modal source admission are covered.

Portable evidence and limitations: all 1,194 listed tests accounted for, 9 new indentation tests pass, full desktop 1,188 pass / 0 fail / 6 existing ignored, strict desktop Clippy and matching Windows GUI build pass on 711 unchanged inputs. Native caret/forward/reverse block/empty-draft/history checks plus typing after selection collapse, Apply/Save/reopen passed within the reviewed scope. Saved 577 bytes equal the independent indentation oracle exactly, preserving mixed CRLF/LF and combining/ZWJ Unicode. Closed processes exit0 with empty logs. Parent reproduced portable verification and bound both source snapshots directly to Git. Initial test compilation errors and the restored-baseline first trial are retained accurately.

Find's Tab remains an inherited no-traversal limitation; it did not edit source. General keyboard accessibility, long wrapped files, IME and Linux are not certified by this bounded fix. Closing the reported indentation defect; broader editor/release acceptance remains open.
