# Teaching walkthrough Home/guide hook — 2026-09-06 Home now offers **Open water-pressure walkthrough**, also available in the guide's First Project article. It opens `examples/release1/project.arcadia`, titled “Restore safe water pressure — release 1 walkthrough,” through the existing guarded pending action and source-bundle loader. The UI directs users to `examples/release1/README.md` and to use Save as before editing their working copy. This is an ordinary opened local bundle, not an embedded/generated substitute or a detached unsaved demo. Resolution checks `examples/release1/project.arcadia` beside the running executable first, independently of the working directory. Debug builds may fall back to the checkout. Release builds require packaged assets. Missing assets produce a specific status explaining that the complete folder is needed. Existing dirty model/source/behavior guards precede opening; malformed/missing included files remain subject to the existing loader checks. ## Verification - `cargo test --workspace --locked walkthrough`: three passed, 527 desktop tests filtered, 0.10 s. Two new tests cover packaged-file precedence/debug fallback/missing-assets reporting and the ordinary unfinished-source pending guard with cancellation and unchanged accepted model. The third is the existing guide search test. Log: `.local/walkthrough-hook-tests2.log`. - The first run had two passes and one test-only failure comparing mixed Windows slash spellings in the diagnostic path. The assertion now normalizes separators; resolved PathBuf comparisons already passed. Original log: `.local/walkthrough-hook-tests.log`. - Strict `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets --locked -- -D warnings` passed in 14.17 s. Log: `.local/walkthrough-hook-clippy.log`. - `cargo build --workspace --bins --locked` passed in 29.79 s. Log: `.local/walkthrough-hook-build.log`. - All commands used one Windows Cargo job. This focused follow-up did not repeat the previous complete 527-test desktop suite; compiled desktop inventory is now 530. ## Staging and release gate Staged, not launched, `.local/native-qa/bin-source6-walkthrough` contains GUI, server, `libunwind.dll`, and the entire `examples/release1` folder. All **35 example files** (including the 28 source-bundle files) were copied and individually hash-compared against their source. Evidence: `.local/walkthrough-staged-files.json`. SHA-256 (`.local/walkthrough-staged-sha256.txt`): - GUI: `246BACE21E254985EE90EF05132139DD7D6AF75085DE9E58FEB49477A493407D` - Server: `1F98F02DBC9FB2D9AFA3C42BB0CB4038BAAE81C85EF17365B5CB486669E749F8` - `libunwind.dll`: `F45604A12E8BCD839FD86F667C1BE1CC7C4F9DA2B3C69FF381AC708F0E1AE7D4` The Windows package script includes examples through `git ls-files`; at handoff the new folder had zero tracked entries. **Stage the complete example folder before release packaging**, or it will be omitted. No packaging script behavior was changed. Native Home/guide hook navigation, bundle opening from the staged application, and Save as are pending root verification; this report does not claim those UI checks passed. Subsequent independent lesson review corrected the visible-copy guidance in README/Home/guide: copy the entire lesson folder before editing, or separately copy `evidence/` when using Save As because it persists only model source. The staged `246B…` binary and copied README above precede this correction; those copy-only edits await the next root build/stage. See `release-teaching-independent-review-20260906.md` for findings and scope.
