You should be able to use 'bends' for connections in state machine diagrams, just like in architecture diagrams
This is a part of #1
Read-only diagnosis from Codex-ytr83r while reviewing the new canvas issues: current state_canvas Scene already consumes routing::route_diagram, including stored diagram routes, and translated route previews during node movement. The missing seam is interactive authoring: StateCanvas Press supports Move/Create/Connect/Reconnect, with endpoint handles only; state_view exposes no bend controls. A bounded correction can reuse existing authored EdgeRoute/waypoint commands, adding context-stamped bend/label hit targets and preview/commit/cancel behavior. It should not require a new state-routing format. Required checks include automatic-vs-authored bend distinction, zoom/pan, self-loops, exact one-step Undo/Redo and source/reopen, stale gesture/draft refusal, and unchanged semantic endpoints. This is a source finding, no fix or runtime acceptance; any state_canvas implementation must partition with peer956's #16 resizing.
Codex-ytr83r/root claims the bounded State transition bend-editing outcome, following delivered #33 attachment work. Remote repository sorokin.oleg.edu/ARCADIA-Studio; distinct work branch codex/state-bends-ytr83r-20260923 will start from pushed53d01a3d4451b94792986f2dfac56f6f04e111a4. No existing implementation claim is present in current comments. Existing route rendering already consumes authored waypoints; scope is deliberate user authoring/removal/movement using the existing EdgeRoute format, with explicit automatic-versus-authored distinction and preserved attachments/semantic endpoints.
Acceptance: native engineer workflow adds/moves/removes bends in a State transition, sees actual preview, cancels without mutation, commits one undoable operation, retains independent saved views, and roundtrips exact source/Project through Save/Undo/Redo/reopen. Include self-loops, zoom/camera changes, draft/stale refusal and port/attachment/reconnect interaction regressions as relevant. Labels will be inspected as a related existing route-edit seam, but no unreviewed scope expansion or schema invention. #16 resize and #27 integration ownership remain Codex-956atf; shared State canvas boundaries will be documented for composition. This is a claim/design start, not a delivered fix.
Codex-ytr83r/root checkpoint: implementation is local-only at26979c109384add3e2a4bfd0092b8da1464e37a2 on codex/state-bends-ytr83r-20260923 (not yet pushed or offered for integration). Selected State transitions now expose authored square bend handles, direct segment insertion/movement, and contextual Add/Remove/Clear actions. Operations preserve endpoint attachments, label and semantic relation data; no new routing schema or tool mode. Review found and repaired provisional-index menu targeting, queued drag admission after selection changes, and preview invalidation before the next camera/bounds event.
Latest pre-freeze targeted run:12passed/1fixture failure (cloned placement aliases); earlier duplicate IDs and then aliases were repaired without weakening full-Project assertions. Candidate additionally includes explicit self-loop/history coverage and preview-versus-commit selected route geometry checks. Full Windows workspace tests, strict all-target lint and identified builds are now running; no final gate or native acceptance claimed yet. Planned native oracle uses prelaunch core geometry plus independent midpoint/traversal calculation and exact complete Project states. Linux remains user-paused. #16 and #27 ownership unchanged.
Local validation correction (not yet published/accepted): first frozen full run at26979c1 stopped with1773passed/2failed/7ignored across completed suites (desktop1206/2/6). It exposed a real State read-only middle-pan regression: clearing model gestures on every noneditable event also cleared pan_from. Corrected localb8685416f56e53e30bd11ecf93a54cea10ac8458 separates edit cancellation from pan cancellation, preserving existing scoped navigation. The other failure was an overconstrained self-loop test equating Clear with byte-level inverse source editing; it now checks full Project/source agreement after Clear and exact original source after three actual Undo operations. Focused independent review found the corrections sound; full gates are rerunning. Failed receipts retained, inputs unchanged. No native pass or release claim.
Preliminary read-only baseline geometry makes the proposed native trial concrete: generic Add bend inserts(526,310)atindex1; Move destination(520,370); B/N1/N2/N3 all validate without route warnings. Final accepted-build staging must independently rederive these values before GUI execution. This is preparation, not observed user interaction.
Published candidate
b8685416f5on codex/state-bends-ytr83r-20260923; push and remote design-note blob readback confirmed. Design/invariants.Frozen Windows workspace tests now pass:1835passed,0failed,7ignored across61suites; all14bend tests plus existing read-onlypan regression pass, tracked/raw source inventory unchanged. Strict workspace/all-target Clippy and final artifact builds are still running. Test receipts remain local until portable evidence handoff; this source publication enables inspection but is not native acceptance or an integration/release handoff. Next is the predeclared actual Windows workflow and exact saved-Project history/reopen trial.
Codex-ytr83r/root delivery: source
b8685416f5is published on codex/state-bends-ytr83r-20260923, with portable evidence now published atd6aabb5decon codex/behavior-anchor-plan-ytr83r-20260912. Evidence entrypoint. Push and remote README blob readback confirmed; all346 staged and committed evidence files match the reviewed archive bytes.State transitions now support selected-line drag insertion, authored-square movement, contextual Add/Remove/Clear, preserving attachments/manual labels/semantic endpoints and independent saved views in single undoable operations. Final Windows workspace gates:1835passed/0failed/7ignored across61suites, strict workspace/all-target Clippy, matching GUI/evaluator builds. Actual native workflow exercised menu Add, square Move, Remove/Clear, Undo/Redo, disabled eligibility, reference view, Save and fresh-process reopening of both cleared and nonempty moved-pin states.17 complete saved-Project comparisons passed exactly; three processes closed normally0 with empty logs and unchanged inputs. Independent source/gate/native/integration reviews found no remaining verified branch-delivery blocker.
Scope is explicit: held intermediate preview, mid-drag cancellation and direct segment insertion have real-canvas automated coverage, not separately observed native acceptance. Reference labels remain crowded; no general layout/accessibility certification. Failed earlier gates are retained, including the repaired read-only pan regression. Two unavailable untracked test versions from an earlier failed dirty diagnostic run are explicitly disclosed; final clean-source/native nonbinary evidence is fully portable. Executables are identified by hashes and reproducible build records, not included in this evidence archive. Linux remains user-paused.
Ready for owner-side integration; keep this issue open until the appropriate integrated result is verified. No compiler or GUI remains running here. Next separately claimed outcome is #31.
