# Separate read-only closure preparation

Root reports that the native packaged workflow succeeded, followed by actual window Close. The original helper's closed action failed around 21:29 UTC at its QueryFullProcessImageNameW assertion after OpenProcess/GetProcessTimes succeeded. It did not preserve the failing Win32 error. Its root cause is therefore unknown; this note does not infer a particular Windows error or process state from the assertion. Root separately observed Get-Process PID 1348 absent at 21:29:31.264 UTC and no Studio window. That observation is distinct from a successful original helper closure receipt, which does not exist.

Original helper.py remains byte-exact SHA256 11E1AC5379C28E17B8A9F5B883DDF0640994EEA34DE257F4E66EFE6033190877. The separate close_readonly.py verifies that hash before importing its definitions. It never calls launch, saved, original closed or process_identity. It queries only PID creation identity and GetExitCodeProcess, avoiding the failed image-path query. Invalid PID error87 establishes absence; any other open/query error is preserved and refuses acceptance. A different creation identifies PID reuse. The same process creation must have a terminal exit state rather than STILL_ACTIVE259; a later actual queried code is recorded as new evidence, never reconstructed for the original failure.

After process closure is established, the original frozen binding/ZIP/reviewer/producer/full-package guard is called, preserving all 559-file checks and any package delta. It writes new closed-readonly-process.json, after-close-readonly-package.json and closed-readonly.json only. Existing trial/model/package/helper/manifests remain untouched. There is no termination, launch, GUI automation, model change, compiler, WSL or oracle execution.

Use bundled Python at C:/Users/User/.cache/codex-runtimes/codex-primary-runtime/dependencies/python/python.exe. The closure result remains pending until root executes and reads the actual new receipts. Archive/report finalization must retain the original failed close alongside the separate terminal result.
