# Palette integration decision and acceptance boundary
Root Codex-956atf, issue #26, 2026-09-13 UTC. The user requires graphical elements
to remain clear on monitors with limited color reproduction. The first bounded
candidate strengthens luminance contrast while preserving existing category
words, shapes, dashes and colors. Neutralizing every category was rejected for
this trial because it removes a useful grouping cue without evidence that this
is necessary. Increasing every decorative divider was rejected because it adds
clutter without strengthening essential geometry selectively.
Foundation 02c2f6f and canvas 092f524 are integrated as 8c3e7ac and bbd3b0e after
lifecycle integration aadc639. The candidate uses INK #18212C, MUTED #4B5968,
TEAL #00665C and essential BOUNDARY #667586. Decorative LINE remains separate.
Selected navigation and state rows have explicit outlines. Canvas geometry,
lifetimes, message correlation, route paths and hit targets are unchanged.
The Source editor uses candidate S2: a white surface, #80958B selection and dark
syntax colors. Its static palette avoids duplicating the editor's Unicode
word/line selection rules. Ordinary controls retain their separate selection
pair. Explicit resolved Iced pairs avoid generated colors silently invalidating
the measured candidate. The tradeoff is reduced visual separation among syntax
colors; native reading and selection tasks must assess it.
Engineering benchmarks are 4.5:1 for semantic text and 3:1 for essential graphics
against their actual adjacent surfaces. These are not a claim of universal native
accessibility conformance or physical monitor performance. Alpha-composited
disabled controls, antialiasing, thin strokes and tiny overview labels need
separate interpretation. Stronger source colors cannot repair missing strokes.
Fresh review found that Iced inputs without editing callbacks still select and
copy. Their Disabled text used MUTED over ordinary selection, only 2.068:1.
A narrow correction must preserve this useful interaction and test actual
selection/copy behavior before the palette can enter the combined gate.
The proposed searchable routing-warning selector is a separate interaction
change. Inspection found no existing host access to the actual routed scene or
private held gestures, and the current menu has no search. Adding a new bridge
and search while promising draft/gesture preservation requires explicit source
and event-order contracts. Its implementation is deferred; existing warning
text remains, and #26 is not closed by the color contribution.
Acceptance requires resolved production-style tests, the existing activation
pixel/identity and lifecycle tests, combined desktop/strict/GUI gates and a
native trial of architecture routes, state selection, lifetimes and source/input
selection at normal and minimum-window Fit scales. Preserve exact Project and
SourceBundle through Save/reopen. Report overview and keyboard-focus limitations
when observed. No palette or monitor acceptance has yet been established.
