# Actual WGPU label rendering: original corridor policy rejected

Source evaluator: [e409107a63e19f52ad32fcbdbe8cedf75cf7df27](http://217.177.34.108:3000/sorokin.oleg.edu/ARCADIA-Studio/src/commit/e409107a63e19f52ad32fcbdbe8cedf75cf7df27/harness/experiments/scenario-label-wgpu-20260913/README.md). The actual imported scenario_label.rs remains the previously measured candidate; main.rs and the runner were unchanged during this run. Explicit input hashes, compiler arguments, dependency/native manifests and executable hashes are retained.

The standalone Windows WGPU executable compiled successfully. It ran 32 actual Frame rendering/readback probes: realistic default, CJK, combining marks and italic strings; two width budgets; four zoom/DPI combinations. Every glyph-coverage, manual payload and integer-translation control passed. All explicit dependency/native manifests and direct inputs remained stable, as did the executed binary hash. No compiler or runtime panic occurred. The two compilation warnings are unused portions of the imported standalone helper, not production lint acceptance.

The evaluator returned 2, correctly rejecting the empirical caller policy: all eight italic cases contained pixels beyond the horizontal corridor plus its one-physical-pixel halo. The overrun counts were 1, 2, 7 and 5 pixels for zoom/DPI0.65/1,1/1,1.75/1 and1/1.5 respectively, at both widths. There were 12 advance-bound spill cases overall. Every case had zero pixels outside its padded backplate, zero changed blocker pixels and zero invalid controls. The wrapper consequently exited with an error; it did not turn the finding into a pass.

For the inspected 1x italic narrow case, Segoe UI Italic was actually resolved, all34 glyphs existed, and the painted bounds began at physical x71 while the advance began at73.5. Thus an advance width alone is not an ink boundary. This is not a defect in a helper promising advance bounds; the caller's corridor policy must reserve overhang space before positioning/truncating text. The original 3-horizontal/2-vertical backplate padding fit these tested samples, but text was placed at the corridor's left edge without an inset. The next candidate must keep the obstacle corridor fixed and reserve space inside it, not enlarge it to hide the failure.

metrics/ retains all32 per-case detailed reports. pixels.zip preserves the exact raw RGBA and PPM readbacks plus original metrics/summary. output-artifacts.json binds the original output bytes. italic-original.png is a lossless format conversion of one actual composite PPM for inspection; it is not a fresh rendering. The raw executable is not required to reproduce the result and is identified by SHA256 in receipt.json.

This is empirical evidence for these fonts, strings, transforms, raster threshold and halo. It is not universal ink containment, production Scene integration, native application acceptance, Linux verification or a release. Prior measurement/corridor unit checks remain valid for their narrower contracts.
