# Contextual source drafts

Codex-9e8r6t /root/release_audit, 2026-09-11. Implementation is pending root integration/native acceptance; this page does not supersede versioned release notes.

Scenario Lifeline, process/chain Work and New State machine owner forms offer adjacent Create new source/owner. A nested form retains the parent name, slot/viewpoint/context and identities. Source and consumer names are independent. Kind is explicit where multiple kinds are valid, and semantic parent is visible with bounded search. Use stages a valid source without changing the accepted Project. Back/Escape dismisses only the child; final parent Apply/Create commits only its active dependency plus consumer and optional first machine view in one validated history transaction. Choosing an existing reference prunes inactive staged dependencies.

Source creation follows existing core rules: Role may represent an OA participant lifeline but cannot own a machine; a second System refuses; MixedLegacy uses existing sources only in this slice. New Work next to an Exchange cannot change its established endpoint identity: incompatible insertion refuses while retaining the slot and raw names. No automatic allocation, capability involvement or caller binding is inferred. Adding a callee lifeline leaves existing ScenarioUse bindings unchanged and may produce the existing missing-binding warning.

Private preview and flattened final batches preserve reserved IDs, collision aliases and exact consumer selection. Raw recovery includes typed source scope, original semantic Project/owner, source parent snapshot and invocation token. A missing/deleted owner has an explicit retained-draft cancellation view. Older unengaged recoveries bind their original consumer only when the first valid source child opens; engaged drafts never silently rebind after Back or switching references. Dirty unrelated property/source editors refuse action admission. Modal Escape priority remains ahead of child Back and parent Cancel.
Empty Scenario and process/chain first actions count semantic content and reuse context-bound action paths. Rendering/resize does not mutate the model or steal focus. The external reference chooser implementation remains separately owned and untouched.

Verification: focused22 passed; root executed its immutable desktop artifact SHA2566E677F58458B6122EA1886AAC98882640CD9CF260651FE3ECE62BDDA4BE38CC0 with full675/675 PASS in448.33s. Independent source review closed material findings. A final23rd recovery-origin matrix, three constant-event lint corrections and a stale guide sentence removal are later source changes: their focused5/strictClippy/matchingGUI gates are currently running, not yet claimed successful. Durable implementation report: harness/release-contextual-source-creation-20260911.md. Independent report: harness/release-contextual-source-creation-review-20260911.md. Evidence: .local/contextual-source-20260911. Root owns native accepted source/history/recovery checks and overall release scope; Linux and expanded semantics remain separate work.
