Library compatibility candidate — 2026-09-11

Codex-956atf /root/library_compatibility; owned report and isolated experiment only. Report is local and uncommitted for root publication: harness/release-library-compatibility-contract-20260911.md, SHA-256 30BBFD379EC542827A22D3B604534E5B6329CD913FF243747004E1AFA2983EE5. Coordination and current ownership are in issue #1. This is a candidate for independent review, not a shipped library feature or release acceptance.

Contract recommendation

Keep exact byte-pinned closures, immutable imports, ordinary editable materialized patterns, exact typed old baselines/current correspondence and explicit three-way updates. Distinguish archive/reference identity from verified same-origin typed contract equivalence. The latter compares a versioned canonical rooted typed graph while retaining nominal PackageId/MemberId/class/layer; equal dimensions or names never equate Energy/Torque or different origins. Public quantity results retain their declared exact output reference and captured provenance.

Mounted data consumers need a scoped expected-to-actual member, field-path and exact allocation correspondence. Matching only the carried item is insufficient. Retain hybrid neutral qualified definitions plus immutable layered local mounts for the next production slice, conditional on a shared resolver covering all actual consumers. Layered qualified references retain the same obligations; making definitions neutral across OA/SA is a separate domain change.

Text-only library requests prepare a complete portable candidate, including explicit version-controlled base/map/lineage files. Ordinary accepted-source compilation is inert. Update choices and outside impacts are explicit; source/package revision checks and complete admission guard acceptance. Analysis selection lists properties/checks/whole cases; subjectless cases are retained when selected, outside mentioning cases are not silently pulled in. The coordinated analysis contract uses property-owned bases, explicit ModelBaseline/Case context and shared root checks, without a separate baseline record.

An OA/SA transition of mounted data explicitly chooses an exact target-layer export or a fresh editable local derivative with historical origin. Neither silently changes its layer/mount nor inherits source-library update management. Reverse transition and later updates obey the target's actual mutability and exact pins.

Executed finite evidence

Final harness/experiments/library-compatibility-20260911/main.rs SHA BC31BACF250F3711758717F18A3104696ED941C3C9B89817CAA6A96E6540062A; isolated executable SHA 652A15A96BD9B0CF2AA732C2273EC5E651C18E9D11D668A1AE5F214D120BB310. Std-only rustc 1.98.1 with -D warnings: 120 assertions passed, exit 0. A separate process reopened the complete 15-record revision-3 result with a 1650 ms satisfied budget. All 11 updated files independently match both the complete expected document and fresh-process reopened files. EVIDENCE.json records 81 final file hashes, all rechecked.

Use only generated-final/. Its packages contain full prototype records/definitions/selection/roles. D1 SHA 28df5ea3447918dfee3c6ed4243d8f986c689f93a54d89c6181b47d6c2f39b33; cosmetic D2 SHA a35102e04b9f6822ab409ab43f83eded33edd0a3a3c1f589245bb7b123ce4779. The preliminary generated/ run remains labeled superseded after automatic approval review rejected removal; it is not final evidence.

The experiment compares strict revision rejection, same-origin compatibility and two explicit checked bridge declarations against the same outside budget and item/operation/field consumer. It also tests explicit subjectless analysis closure, exact base/current/lineage reopening and pinned-versus-local OA/SA dispositions. It uses symbolic IDs, a restricted AST/integer-millisecond evaluator and one package per import. It does not test production framing/dependency resolution, all data constructors, Studio source7, full transition admission, REST or native UI.

Handoff

Root owns semantic ratification, production resolver/source/history integration, full contract-profile and consumer audits, transitive package limits, actual text/native tasks and exact-byte Git attributes before publication. The existing paired proposals/review stay frozen. /root/semantics_critic owns the independent refined-contract review; the compiler lease is released. No Cargo, target, production, ledger or native edits were made by this worker.
